We are a club based in the centre of Cambridge, which gives our members the chance to learn public speaking, leadership and presentation skills. We are affiliated with Toastmasters International and District 71 (UK and Ireland), now in our 12th year, with around 35 members. In June 2011 we became a President's Distinguished Club for the 2nd year running - the top award!
Toastmasters International is a non-profit organization which gives its members the opportunity to develop and improve their public speaking skills through local club meetings, seminars and speech contests. We are part of an international organisation that includes more than 260,000 members, in more than 12,500 clubs, in 115 countries!
Experienced professionals and beginning speakers alike can benefit from our practical, face-to-face learning program. Whether you're speaking to the board of directors, your customers or your co-workers, our club can help you do it better. You'll learn and practice in a friendly, comfortable environment with people who are there for the same reason as you are - to become better communicators.
Members learn by speaking to groups and working with others in a supportive environment. A typical club is made up of 20 to 30 people who meet once every two weeks for about 2 hours. Each meeting gives opportunities to practice conducting meetings, giving impromptu speeches, presenting prepared speeches, and offering constructive evaluation.
